Cycle a Difference – airport arrivals, introductions made, bicycles loaded on the truck and on the buses for the journey to Lai Cao. The first stop was a visit to Obstetrics and Newborn Unit. The cyclists were warmly welcomed by the Hospital Director Dr. Hoang Thi Nguyet and the Head of Paediatrics and Neonatal, Dr. Ho Kim Hoa. The Director shared the challenges they face in providing the best possible care for every newborn and the need for more equipment. She wished the cyclists strength and determination to reach Mai Chau.
It was a very happy moment as David Lloyd, Sports Director, Topas Travel handed over oxygen saturation monitors – essential equipment in the care of sick newborns. Meeting parents and visiting the neonatal intensive care nursery inspired us all to turn the pedals over the next four days.
