Edrington Inspired to Cycle

Edrington Epic 4 cyclists made a triumphant arrival at the Da Nang Hospital for Women and Children to a warm and emotional welcome, nurses waving flags, the City’s military band heralded our heroes and heroines over the finish line. This was the end of a gruelling four days of cycling, 47 riders overcame floods and torrential rain and completed 600 km. Gareth Ward, British Ambassador to Vietnam, paid tribute to the Edrington for their inspired charitable giving, the hospital and Newborns for their work to give every baby the best possible start in life. The Ambassador and the Vice Director of the Hospital congratulated the intrepid cyclists and presented the Newborns Vietnam Cycle a Difference medal. Suzanna Lubran, Executive Director of Newborns Vietnam’s made an emotional thank you speech recognising the similarities between endurance cycling and providing intensive care in resource poor environments. The amazing Edrington donation of $750,000 was an unbelievable moment for Newborns, the enormity of the effort from each and every cyclists, their colleagues and their families is truly inspirational.  Newborns and Edrington are on a journey that does not end as the last pedal was turned, we will work together to end preventable newborn deaths.
