Over 1,000 health professionals in Vietnam have now achieved an international certification in newborn resuscitation (NLS). This week, eight outstanding professionals from Dak Lak, Hanoi, and Hue – identified for their instructor potential – took the next step on their journey. Under the guidance of Professor Jonathan Wyllie, they participated in the Generic Instructor Course (GIC), learning to teach life-saving resuscitation skills, mentor new learners, and strengthen Vietnam’s newborn care system. These future instructors will play a vital role in saving newborn lives across the country.
A heartfelt thank you to the National Hospital of Obstetrics and Gynaecology for hosting this important training course and to our UK faculty, who selflessly give their time and expertise. Every year, UK neonatal consultants and newborn resuscitation instructors volunteer over 4,500 hours to train Vietnam’s healthcare professionals—an extraordinary contribution to a future where every newborn has a chance to survive and thrive.
