Newborns Vietnam is feeling proud at the official opening of the first Human Milk Bank in Hanoi at Vietnam National Children’s Hospital (VNCH). The Human Milk Bank is a great achievement to support the best start in Life for babies born too soon, too small and too sick, donor human breastmilk is truly a gift of life. Today we are celebrated the benefits the Human Milk Bank will bring to thousands of babies and their families.
To date the Human Milk Bank has received over 800 litres of donated human milk from 40 mothers whose babies were in the VNCH neonatal unit and in the community. To date pasteurised human donor milk has been provided to more than 280 babies, this includes 62 babies infected with COVID-19 or have mothers with severe COVID-19 who are too ill to breastfeed.
